Railing Progressing! Anyone out there????

In case anyone is out there looking at work!!!!
Where are you Art Metalists??? I have enjoyed this site so so long...and it seems as if no one is looking and commenting on each others work...has everyone passed over to FB? Anyway...I'm not giving up on this site...

Here's the railing I've been struggling with...finally coming around..Getting much more proficient with my rosebud torch...too much fun...I'm really needing a forge to
play with, maybe next commission.... Sorry for the lousy photography but it is really hard to photograph in my studio... SteelyJan38

A simple propane forge would

A simple propane forge would certainly be a whole lot cheaper than using a rosebud to heat heavy stock! The most versatile would be a coal forge but there's a pretty significant learning curve with that while a propane forge is plug-n-play and the fuel is both inexpensive and ubiquitous. You could build a simple freon bottle forge for under $200 or buy a commercial one for about double that.

A Must

I'm finding I'd really like one now....it's addicting to have molten metal at your creative command..opens up a whole new way of thinking... SteelyJan38

I should caution you Jan,

I should caution you Jan, that getting a forge is the first step on a slippery slope into actual forging - pretty soon you'll be "needing" dozens of hammers, tongs, anvil tools, then a power hammer, a hydraulic press, etc, etc, etc, ad infinitum. Might be cheaper and less life-changing if you just settle for a straightforward heroin addiction. (GRIN)

Been there...done that...doing it; will keep doing it 'til I drop, ya da da dah dah dah...

Hi SJ! This looks great!

Hi SJ!
This looks great! Susan showed this (and other pictures of yours) to me on FB, but I still can't figure out that website, so you didn't hear from me.
By all means, get a forge! As Rich says, it is a slippery slope. As you well know, it is like getting a horse. It doesn't matter how much you pay for it, buying it is the cheapest part!
I built mine so I could have just the configuration and size I wanted. Something you may want to consider. Now if we could only get you and Walter to come down for a visit...
