Dragonfly Railing in Progress

Dragonfly Railing in Progress

Hi Everyone,
Spending a week at my studio. Hope to get a big jump on my commission as it's slated for installation in April. Ive' got most of the porch done, and all the frames of the panel done. seven in all...some stairs some free form panels. here's one of the free form panels in progress. This one is about 5 feet long and has a slight arc.
I also have a 10 foot panel to do. I think it's coming out alright. I'm excited about getting such a good block of time to work. Janet R.

Hi Janet, the railing is really looking sharp. What size of round stock are you using? It's kind of nice when you get a chunk of time to work on a project isn't it. It was/is always frustrating to try to cram time to work on a project into free time here and there. Can't wait to see it finished.

Hi Jake....

the frame was 1"x 1/2" solid....made my bender cry to bend it on the flange. I actually bent my pins and the pieces torqued so I had to heat them and bang them back into submission.
The round stock is 3/8ths mixed with some 1/2" on the scrolls
pre-bought then cut up and reused. I just finished another set of steps and bent the frame for the next arc piece. Alot of work....it's wine o'clock! I'll post some pics tomorrow.

You know, that is funny. In our neighborhood, it gets to be Beer Thirty, but never gets to wine o'clock.
