New Commission!

Hi Everyone....
Well , I did get the big railing commission I was waiting on! Here's a rough sketch of the idea. The wings of the dragonflies will have green glass insets. The clients are very excited which makes me very excited! I also always get alittle apprehensive when taking on a large job. I don't feel I have the skills of alot of my peers at ArtMetal....but I always manage to get the job done...(mostly by my hands) I'll keep you informed of the progress. Congratulations on your commission. It must be a relief to have the waiting over. The sketches and concept look great. I can't wait to see progress shots and of course the end result. When do you get started?

I hope to get out to the site maybe on Friday after Thanksgiving and tighten up the dimensions also I need to make templates for some curved areas. Then all I need is a deposit....I have to sit down and make sure I order enough materials , sometimes I don't get enough and then I"m scrambling for pieces of this or that...Again thanks for that template for cost estimates I'll use that as a guide.

This is a great piece. I like dragonflys alot, I have a tattoo of one. I cant wait to see the finished piece. Is it going to be inside or out?

Hi Janet,
One look at your drawings and good vibes happened. I especially like the free form piece.Dragonflies are special friends to me. In the summer they sit on my totally bald head and launch off to catch skeeters.I guess they like the clear view.The cut out pattern looks great too.Good for you!

Congratulations

Congratulations Janet.....great design. I particuarly like the garden screen...so much movement. The glass is a great idea. I've been plotting to do a large 3D dragonfly with glass inserts in its wings for some time. Cant wait to see the final.
