| One of the approaches I use for designing custom architectural railings is to use a Hi-8 Video camera to shoot on location live footage of the areas which I will be providing artwork for. This allows me to get quick perspective shots which I later use to define my perspective drawings. Processes
I have found that using these digital tools allows more precision and better representation of the proposed artwork to the client. There may be some additional effort required during the design process, but this preliminary work is essential in clear communications with the client and architect. After acceptance of the the drawings, I use the original 2-D scaled drawings and rescale them for a 1:1 scale, print them tiled, and then use them as templates for creating the actual artwork.
