Commissioned by Edgar Daniels for his residence in Santa Fe, NM.This commission was handled through Somerhill Gallery in Chapel Hill,NC.
The gate is made of forged steel with a painted graphite finish.The apple and seed pods were hand raised from soft brass - atechnique used to cold form objects using repeated blows withspecialized hammers and stakes. The serpent was hot forged from 1"solid copper bar and finished with a Verde patina.

This screened gate is a private commission requiring light use ofmaterials and good structural strength. Prerequisites forfunctionality included a need for allowing air movement into theresidence, and prevention of damage to the lower section of thescreen by animals or children. A solid brass screen backgroundaccents the contemporary design and keeps insects out of theresidence.

Finished with a burnt silver blackcoating and forged from solid steel as thick as 1 1/2", this gatewaywill long out last our generation.
