I sent the lady an email telling her a bit about myself as she had requested, and telling her how pleased I was to hear about that piece surfacing after all these years. Today, she sent me a link to the page where she is auctioning the thing on Ebay! Here I was all pleased and full of myself because someone had tracked me down after that much time and I discover it was only to try to pump up the value for an Ebay auction. :-(
Hubris does have a way of coming around and biting you right in the backside, doesn't it? I don't know whether to hope it sells for a lot or doesn't sell at all. (grin) Still, it does show that clearly marking your work has some value in enabling it to be provenanced later down the road, even if it only to flog it on Ebay.
