Thanks. as for images, I am in the process of getting it out the door for an exhibit. When I have a few more I will post, perhaps I will wait until it is in the show starting Jan 22 at York College in Penna.
The bronze (circular form) is essentially a dished form - it is a shape like you would produce from placing two woks, or bowls face to face - standing on edge. I sandblasted and acid washed the surface and finished with a ferric nitrate patina and johnsons paste wax.
The lower steel portion is weathered and rusted 5/16 steel plate. The white that you see is really a reflection. The finish is ferric nitrate/ferric chloride with some hyrdocloric acid etch. It too was finished with johnsons paste wax. Overall it is mottled much like the front section facing forward in the image. I like the differing colors adding subtle texture.
I worked with a professional photographer, lighting, backdrop, etc/. We played around for half a day trying to eliminate as many 'hotspots' or reflective areas, but due to the 'shiny' nature of the wax metals it was real difficult. I have trouble with this all the time.
Hard to shoot sculpture.
