PIANOJAZZ

This is a painting I did in 1986 when I was doing the Visual Engine Series. It is 48" high and 72" wide on tempered hardboard. It is painted with 6 coats of Lasceau acrylics.

The idea was to visualize the finger strikes and foot pedal action of a jazz pianist. In fact, I did the initial drawing while listening to pianist Tom Lawton practice on his grand piano. I dedicated it to him since he was such a good friend, allowing me to audit his playing. He now plays at the Four Seasons in Philadelphia.
