Just for Fun

| |

I had a "rest" day between paying jobs today, so naturally I went to the shop and did some blacksmithing.  :-)  It's even more fun doing it for myself than it is doing it for money.

As some of you may already know, one  thing I really enjoy is taking old rusty tools and restoring them to pristine condition for use in my shop.  Another thing I like is tools that are decorative as well as functional.  A while back, I got anice old post vise that needed a fdw parts made and a thorough de-rusting and straightening.  The basic work has been done for some time now, but I only recently got around to mounting it on one of my benches.

In doing the mounting, I carelessly drilled a hole in the wrong spot in the floor.  Anyone in his right mind would simply patch the hole and pretend it never happened, but I've never layed claim to being in my right mind, so I figured I do something different with that hole.  Down here in the tropics, any crack in a piece of concrete will shortly have a weed or a vine or even a tree growning up out of it, so I decided to grow a vine out of that hole I'd drilled.  This vine I don't have to pull out, at least.Vise embellishment vine
