Gerald i will post some pictures of the hinges and jointing for you when i get chance. The thick ring at the bottom of the gate is a large dali-esque pencil! The theme of the railings was a childlike playful one. You may notice that there are much larger pencils on the railings. The whole idea was that everything was rolling down the steep hill, things appear to be falling from a satchel or school bag and rolling down the wall along with books pencils an umbrella, Childrens hoops, catapults, spinning tops and whips and soccer balls. I wanted the gates to appear fuller and heavier on the left hand gate as though everything had rolled up against the wall of the house. It has been a project that was huge fun to make and also to design, i was given free rein. One of my nicest commissions so far. The client has more work for me to start soon. so i will be keeping busy for a few more months!
