Fourth step is done cold and only the paste wax. Once I thought about it, it made sense. The heat helps dry the linseed oil. If you applied a second coat of the mix on the metal cold, it would take a lot longer then a hour to dry. The paste wax dries in less then a hour and can be buffed to a hard finish. Client can run their hands over it and not come away with a sticky feeeling.
