Rene, I have an apartment in Buenos Aires, and I will be coming down the first week of April.
If I can, I will come by and meet you in person.
I dont do anything like the beautiful work you do- I am a blacksmith, welder, and machinist, who makes large sculptures- but I appreciate all kinds of metalwork.
My place is over in Palermo, Billinghurst y Sante Fe, but I do get down to San Telmo sometimes- I love the churripans at the little place on Carlos Calvo right next to the shoemaker- wait- is that your street?
I want to have the shoemaker make me a pair of Carpincho shoes, so I may come by. I have also been buying lots of minature yunque's at the flea market in San Telmo, but I will not be there on a Sunday this trip, so I guess I wont be buying any yunque's.
Here in the USA, most minature yunque's are London Pattern, which is a single horn style- while in BA, they are all double horned, one round and one squared off- these are never seen in the USA, (the little ones- I have a full size, 120 kg anvil that is this shape) and the little ones are quite beautiful- sometimes they are actual jewelers anvils, othertimes they are sales promotional items, with names of companies engraved in them- my favorite is Tallers Metalurgicos Alcaide, which is a beautiful little bronze yunque, almost like jewelry itself.
I will be coming down more in the years to come, and hopefully may set up a small place to work myself- although I may just find someone who will let me work in a corner of their blacksmith shop.
