Thanks, now I know that my technique is called "buttering." ...and you're right, it is very challenging. I find that I can't force it; I need to be in "the zone," and just let the metal flow. Some times the metal just does what it's going to do, and that's ok, but sometimes as the molten goes to solid, and it appears just as in your's mind's eye, I let out a big "YES!"
