Corten and albert paley

I noticed the recent blog regarding corten wall cladding in someone’s house. I am interested in info regarding corten. I live in Australia and we don’t have this material. From what I understand it is a weathering steel. Is anyone familiar with Bissaloy or Welten? Is it a similar product? Does it have a mild steel look to it when it is polished or is it more like a SS finish? For those of you who are familiar with Albert paley's work I am particularly curious to discover what material the bronze looking metal is that he uses in the gates pictured on the front cover of his book “Sculpture, Drawings, Graphics and Decorative Arts”. It looks like a hard metal and not soft like brass. Regards Glen
