Hi Paula:
Most of my sculptures having a figurative element whether female or male show typical features of myself.Please don`t missunderstand me. In my case,I make no atempt to achieve self resamblance, on the contrary, but it`s amazing what the outcome is!Baculus isn`t simply a sculpture to me.
Curiously, I had to work on it till midnight many days due to limited time to meet competition deadline.My wife underwent surgery and nearly died during the making.It was a very emotional and distressing experience. The snake he`s holding with the stick (baculum is a greek term meaning cane),and comunicating with is nothing else that he`s own mind.Mind could be heaven or could be hell...He, Baculus is controling the snake. Baculus is me and I wish I could some day have more control over that"reptile".Thanks for comenting. Nelson/bac,short for my nickname (from Baculus).
