art craft coop

Mele,
Well suppose that you and I and about fifty of our closest friends want to purchase materials cheaper. We could decide to cooperate with each other in the purchase and distribution of those materials. We might be able to reap substantial savings on the cost of those materials. An example of that might be an organic food coop. Let's further say that we've seen how we could save on materials but if we cooperated with each other a little more we could get a large piece of equipment and have it for our individual use but share in it's purchase price and maintenance. That might open doors for us far beyond what our individual resources ever could. For instance, glass blowers might share in the costs of a studio. One of the best I've ever seen is the ST. Petersburg Clay Company.com They have an outstanding ceramics studio, vastly superior to many university facilities. They are located in a historic train station. in down town St Pete, Florida. They have a very nice gallery and a large membership. Membership runs between 85 to over 200 dollars per month depending on your involvement and needs. They are a beautiful example of an artist craft coop. Hope that helps you get the concept. Brad
