Jewelry copper | metal I'm a totally self-taught metal-smith and need an assist. I'm trying to form my own headpins in copper. I'd like to get the end of a 24 or 22 guage copper wire to roll into a small ball. I am presently thouroughly cleaning the wire, applying flux (tried both borate-based and liquid from Rio Grand), then heating with a propone torch. None of my many permutations of flux and heat seem to work. Can someone walk me through the steps and clarify the temperature I'm shooting for (pre- or post-anneal)? Thanks! Reply |
