: What textbook do you recommend for learning how to MIG weld. My wife is learning Mig welding from an experienced retired welder who has no use for textbooks. She would like to have a good practical textbook on Mig welding using a basic machine. (She has oxy/act and AC/DC Arc machine and we are trying to budget a MIG machine) A textbook that covers all types of welding would be useful too. What book(s) do you recommend and do you know a source? Thanks--Pat & Ken

I have to recomend Modern Welding. I presently am in a 2 year welding fabrication degree program at my local cummunity colledge and it is the text we use. Veru informitive and a good section on gmaw and fcaw -mig and flux core. Two thumbs up as my education goes!ISBN 1-56637-330-1 retails about $50.00 put out by Althouse, Turnquist, Bowditch, I have the fourth addittion which has a nicer text and more colorful photos than the third addition but it was also the only addition my campus book store carried. A third addition would be cheaper.
