This could have a thousand answers or directions and I know nothing of your experience at this, your tools to do something or your expectations for results. Also not clear on the diameter size of wire or your working patience.

So possible suggestion #1:

Make a solid model of your figure goal.

Make it as accurate as possible so you can refine it for any and all dimensions. Possibly from clay or plaster so it is durable enough and stable to keep around as you do the entire next phase.

I would suggest at least 16 inches in length or larger.

Then using a simple caliper take dimensions off it and start to scale it up to the final size in wire. (If you made it the same size as the final form it would be even easier but I have no idea what size you're shooting for.) This may take a little math, a calculator, OR BEST YET a two sided adjustable caliper so when you take the width dimension off one area it automatically gives you the other new size from the other end.

A calliper like this can be made with 2 sticks and a bolt with screws in each end to set the contact points for measuring. Like a big off center X.

It will be very hard to view a figure from it's interior dimensions but this system will give you a definite starting point so it can begin with real accuracy.

Remember that early accuracy in any craft will set the tone and direct the finish result much more than trying to pull it together down the line.

Good luck and keep us posted. Anxious to see your results.

(If you have a camera and take progress shots you could also post them for us to watch... I find this a great FREE location to use and everybody loves a picture now and then. Here is a group put up on casting so you know what I'm referring to. )

Repost the site URL under this same topic thread so we can find it.
