I have often welded cast iron with general purpose (mild steel) MIG Wire, with decent results.

As your stove is 75 years old the cast iron likely isn't some cheap white metal so this should work.

Grind a new seam along the crack (past each edge 1/4").

Set the MIG fairly hot.

Heat the material all around the crack until it is red hot.

Weld it solid.
