Nickel is probably not a good choice for jewelry it causes contact dermatitis in some people and is actually banned in the European Union for use in jewelry! I know it is used in the Dental field but I do not believe it is used any longer in surgical implants due to reactions with the body so you might want to think seriously about using it. It also is very dangerous to inhale the fumes from overheated nickel when casting or welding, it can cause pulmonary edema which can be fatal.
