Are you trying to make raised veins or indented (chiseled in) veins? If you are doing the latter, Once you have your steel to a nice orangey-red, try clamping the stem into your vise and laying the leaf down over the jaw body. The jaw body will act as your anvil. You can straighten out the leaf later. Remember to keep your leaf nice and hot while veining. Also, it helps immensly to have your chisel radiused longitudinally. By hammering and rolling the chisel you get nice clean veins along the curves, not those tell tale chisel marks. Dave
