Topic: Oxy/MAPP gas techniquesFollow UpsBramblebush ForumsFAQ Posted by John Lindsay on May 21, 1999 at 10:16:00: I recently acquired a nice old set of Harris Calorific regulators and torches (circa 1940s). After servicing the regulators, the local welding supply house recommended an oxy/MAPP set-up versus an oxy/acetylene one - more stable, less expensive etc. Since MAPP and acetylene are not the same, I suspect that it may require special techniques to cut and weld. Can anyone tell me if I can use the oxy/acetylene pressure tables? Also I hear that tips designed for acetylene may have to be modified (enlarged) for MAPP. I would appreciate any advice you may have to offer.
