Keeping Copper's Shine Outdoors?

I've got some deoxidized copper for water sculptures that, besides getting soaking wet, will stand in full sun.

For similar work, most folks like to let the elements take over and have the natural grey-to-green patina set in, but I'd like it to have that highly polished look. Problem is, all the varnishes, lacquers, spray sealers, yada yada ya that I've tried just can't hack it: they peel, yellow, or gum.

I'm going nugging futs over this. Any ideas what to do?
