A good plaster mold should give about the best results other than a metal one. The mold must be dried out before using by heating slowly in a oven to no more than 500 F .

The mold should also be fairly hot when the metal is poured to get the best detail. A two piece mold is vented with small v notches from the cavity to the outside.
