There is a lot of misuse here too, and no universal agreement among "authorities".

I'll try.

Any copper based alloy can be called a "bronze". All except Copper-tin alloy should be qualified, for example "manganese bronze", silicon bronze etc. The unqualified word "bronze" should mean a copper tin alloy or "tin bronze."

The word "brass" should be reserved for the copper zinc alloys.

Using references to specifically specified alloys is best, for example "Everdur", "admiralty brass", etc rather than the vague and often misunderstood terms "brass" and "bronze".
