I built the Gingery Crucibal furnace about 10 years ago. I changed some things though. I din't build the blower, I bought a blower and variable speed switch from Grainger, Blower Model: 4C443A and Motor speed control Mod: 4X7968. It will go 20 2900F.

I am running propane and had to change the orfice to a smaller size. Also his furnace raises up in the middle, suposedley to let you remove your crucibel. That was a waste of time, If I built another I'd make it all in 1 piece. I used a standard refractory also, I've been using it for 10 years and there are NO cracks in it that cause a problem. Be sure you stay with it on every pour. This furnace will "Back Burn" quickly which could cause an explosion. Good luck.
