I built a furance using fire bricks with refactory cement to hold it together. I don't think that it is working right. I have some gaps inbetween the bricks so the flame leaks out. The flame is bright orange in color I thought that the flame color should be blue. I am using a hair dryer for a blower and a 20lb propane tank for fuel supply. The regulator is 100,000 btu.

I let the furance heat up for 30 minutes on Sunday and I had aluminum in it, but it didn't melt. How long does it take to melt

aluminum? I probably need to plug up the gaps inbetween the bricks, but other than that I don't know what to do.

Any help would be appreciated.
