Rob,

I use a combination of heavy sledge on the button to knock off most of the shell, hammer and chisel, needle scaler, high pressure (I only get up to 1500psi but the 360F steam seems to casue fair release of the shell material), beed blaster, some sand blasting but no cabinet, carbide burrs, small sanding discs, small blending discs (backed, heavy scotch pad material) and a new item of scotch pad material with no backing (floppy and conture forming). I don't think you can expect the blasting (no matter what material you are using) to remove flashing and the like. In fact, most blasting is ideal if it preps the surface and NOT remove material. Finishing is just a good deal of work, more if the casting is not as good as it might, sould, should, whatever, be.

John D.
