Thank you for the wax recipe. I have one question remaining regarding the protection of patinas used on outdoor pieces.

Is it necessary to to put 2-3 coats of lacquer or varnish over the patina (as many patina books recommend) prior to putting wax on? If so, what kind do you recommend?

I have read conflicting recommendations regarding this matter, and I am curious as to what the consequences are of using or not using a lacquer.
