Copper tree installed.

Attended the official "unveiling of my tree today.

No leaves yet, but looks o.k. all the same. I was hoping the seat was going to be round, and have a sloping back as originally sketched, but the best laid plans of mice and men....TreeTreeTree on the moveTree on the move

Local press took some photos, and talked to me about it, which is a nice bit of free publicity. More importantly, the kids ( it's at a school) love it.

Incidentally that's not me admiring my work, but one of the maintenance team who kindly helped me install it.

Thanks guys. I really

Thanks guys. I really stretched myself to make this, and I'm so glad that both the client and I am pleased with the result.
'Course - like every job I'm still looking at it from certain angles and thinking " wonder if I should've....."
But you gotta know when to stop !

It's about 8' tall with about an 8' span. Not especially heavy, considering...I could juuuust about lift it an inch or two off the floor on my own.1.5mm thick copper for the trunk and beginning of branches, down to .9mm sheet for the ends of branches. Bark texture was done with an air chisel from the inside out over a piece of carpet before rolling round and tigging up. Had some fun at first doing the curvy branches, but got the hang of it towards the end!

The art dept. weren't in evidence on the day, so I don't know what the progress is with the leaves...but the head promised to let me know when they've done something.

I don't think I'd have taken this project on without inspiration from this (and Warren's) site, or completed it without the advice of my friends here....so my hat's off to artmetal!

great

great to see it in place ... I am sure the children will build lots of fantasies around it now ..... I would be tempted one day to slip a little bug or butterfly onto it and see how long it takes them to notice ....

mmm.. scary when someone

mmm.. scary when someone else voices your thoughts. When there's a few leaves on there I might very well add a bit of fauna.. maybe a caterpillar....

Thanks again for the nice comments.
