Too Secure

Why does this site not let you post more than a few posts at a time before it starts holding your posts for the moderators? You know you are logged in making some comments and then BAM your post disappears to cyber world. So you try it again, and the next day both show up. So time consuming and ridiculous, I mean come on you can't post back and forth. Folks on here are always double posting because of the crappy system. It getting to the point you hate making a reply because you do not know if it this one or the next one not going to go through. ![]() Jocko

I feel the same way Frank, but if there are people having issues I'd like to address them if possible. I'll see what can be done, but nothing I do will help your issue (mine, too). Why can't my computer be smart enough to know what I meant to do, instead of doing what I actually tell it to do? (grin) Rich ![]() Warren, Stephan, As the

Warren, Stephan, As the Moderator, I approve posts as fast as I see them, which is generally every evening. I don't know that the system's limit is before it kicks your posts voer to the moderation que, but I agree it might be nice if the number was raised - sadly, I have no idea how to do that. QuiQue would have to be the one to do it. I'd suggest, since it is important to you, that you both send hime eamils suggesting the change. What you may not be aware of is the number of spam posts I have to delete every night. Most are "visitor" posts from spambots, but some are posts from spammers who have signed up so they can flood the forums with advertising. In the past, all posts were automatically published, regardless of whether they cam from registered members or visitors, but this proved to be problematical. Spam would get posted and it would take emails to me or QuiQue to notify us of them and then we'd have to hunt them down and kill them - very time consuming, and it sometimes left objectionable stuff published for a day or two before we were notified and took action. This is why we made the decision to go to a moderated format. For what its worth, I think the system is anything but crappy - it works much better than most, based on what I've seen out there. There are better, for sure, but the either cost big bucks or take high maintenance effort. I'll send QuiQue an email letting him know what the issue is - if you guys would each send one also it might help. Thankd, Rich ![]() yep

Rich, it just would be nice to know that you did make a post but went to the moderator. Juat a little window that said that. Then at least you know you hit the right buttons. www Metalrecipes -- heat and beat to the desired shape, repeat as necessary. ![]() That's a good idea, Warren.

That's a good idea, Warren. If I knew how, I'd make that happen, but I have no idea how to go about changing the way the site works. Enrique will have to do that. I'll suggest it to him. Thanks for the idea. Rich ![]() Thank you for doing this for

You're very welcome, Marilyn. While it does take an hour or so of my time each day, I feel it is certainly worth doing so that we can have a site that is free of spam and trash. I probably spend about as much time just answering questions as I do moderating, but that is something I do to help keep the craft of metalsmithing alive and growing. I feel very strongly that those of us who have the experience and knowledge of the craft are obligated to share that knowledge with newcomers and others, just as others shared that information with us years ago. The best thing about doing my web duties is the number of really terrific people I've come to know a bit, and the volumes of information I've gained in return. ArtMetal is an excellent forum with outstanding members and I'm really proud to be a part of it all, and honored to share it with all of you. Thanks for helping to make ArtMetal the great place it is! Rich |

posting on Artmetal...
Stephen Fitz-Gerald
With the greatest respect to Erique,Rich and all who manage Artmetal,I must agree with Warren on this and suggest it be looked at and revised or streamlined. Just imagine how difficult it is for our non English speaking members too.I've found this the most difficult site to post images and text together and really know where they're going and how they'll show up...
