Site Help - FAQ Nice ease of set up for new groups, but a couple pointers needed. How can I make a hyperlink so that a word can be highlighted and when clicked can give additional info? This way each posting does not have to have so much text when posting info pieces. Thanks! ![]() hyperlinks

Yep. And do I need a URL if I "enter text in the lower field to include when someone mouses over the hyperlink."? If I need to include a URL for this, then I need to know how to make (find) that. If only entering text...great, then I am on my way. VRock ![]() I can't find any little

Richard, You need to first click on enable rich-text at the bottom of the text entry panel. Then the panel changes and you'll find the camera icon at the top left. Click on it and follow the prompts to upload your pics to our server and insert them in your text. ![]() What I was attempting to do

What I was attempting to do was to put an active url link in my post so that the reader can click on it and his browser takes him to the url. Richard ![]() Okay, that's different, but

Okay, I misunderstood. That's different, but still easy enough. Again, do the enable rich-text thing first. Type your post and where you want the link type in a title for it. Like this - "ArtMetal, a great website for metal artists." Highlight the title word or words you want (in this case ArtMetal) and then click on the chainlink icon at the top right of the panel. Enter the URL and decide if you want it to open in the same window or a new window, then click the insert button. Your hot link will now look like this: "Artmetal, a great website for metal artists." Done. Hint: if you don't see the chain link, then you haven't highlighted anything to create a link point. ![]() I can't find any chain link

I can't find any chain link thing after doing what you said. Only the photograph icon and the drop down format window are visible.

Richard, After you click on "enable rich-text" and get the new text entry panel, you can then insert a live link. First, type in the text for your proposed link, then click on it and highlight it. Once it is highlighted, you will then see the chain link icon at the top right of the panel, as shown in the screen shot below. When you click on the chain link icon, it will bring up a pane to type in the URL of the link. ![]() When I click on "enable rich

When I click on "enable rich text" the panel I get only has the camera icon and the drop down "format" thing. It doesn't have all of that other stuff shown in your screen shot. I am not running an obsolete system. I have XP service pack 3 and the latest Firefox. Richard ![]() That's very strange,

That's very strange, Richard. Up until just recently I was running an XP system using Firefox and I had no problems like that. I can't explain it, I'm afraid. ![]() Thanks for the help Rich. I

Adding links to your content
Adding links to your content is real easy if you use the "enable rich-text" button. Then highlight the word you want to provide a hyperlink, and click on the little chain link icon. A new smaller window will appear, and you can enter the url. You can also select whether you want to have the url display on the same page or separate page. Finally you can enter text in the lower field to include when someone mouses over the hyperlink.
As to backgrounds, well that can only be controlled by the theme you choose in the group you are creating. The turqoise background you see can only be done by an administrator. I do it to make it a sticky (sticks to top of community page).
Make sense?
