oxy-acetylene | stainless | steel | TIG | welding Howdy ArtMetal folk. I dunno if I'll ever update this blog but I love browsing and will likely continue to update my picasaweb album as I go (see signature). Figured I'd start with a post of a tiny history with a couple images. So, I've always wanted to work with metal, but never took the time. For some reason folk wanted me to take a class. I'm not that into sitting in a class and being spoken at. So I avoided it. About 6 months ago I decided to bite the bullet and buy a welding textbook and a TIG rig (details of either upon request, but don't want to make this into an ad). From there I just started playing and have documented my progress via pictures. Full set: here First simple welds (before I knew that galvanization turned into white wispy smoke/cotton that made you sick):
Later project before I realized that stainless + mild steel with oxy led to poor welds at best:
A collection of christmas gifts:
Finally got the pedal for the TIG rig and was able to create arbitrary strange small welds:
With a rotary nibbler I added mechanical looking sheet metal creations to the list of possibilities:
Much scrap and a bit of time and my counters are getting a bit cluttered:

Welcome to ArtMetal, Tom!
Welcome to ArtMetal, Tom!
Looks like you've been having a great time with the new TIG welder. I like the Millenium Falcon and the flowers!
You should find a lot of inspiration here, and also inspire others.
