Crenelated Elliptical Fruit Bowl

Fruit bowl in cold formed stainless steel.
Cold formed foot welded up underneath.
Length-15"
width- 12"

Eye with a Tear Pendant

|

Glass bead set in stainless steel.
Tear drop is also made of (fabricated)stainless steel.
As with my other stone and glass settings these are directly ARC WELDED into a pre-formed bezel without destroying the stone or glass bead.I've engineered a simple but effective "trick" to keep the heat of the instant weld of the MIG machine from ever reaching the fragile stone piece or glass bead...

Celtic Torc with acorn finials

The major body of this torc is fabricated from forged stainless steel 3/8ths HEXBAR.The acorns are fabricated from stainless tubing and washers with a heat patina. My client has a 19"neck so it's a bit

Crucified

This is a work that the gallery owner spotted in my studio and insisted I hang in the window for my recent one-man-show.I'll admit it garnered a fair amount of attention and drew many folks in off the street.I think he wants to use it for a publicity shot for the gallery.Definitely one of my more expressive pieces.

Art Nouveau Wall Vase

This was originally a prototype for a lamp, but in my current one-man-show at Risk Press Gallery in Sebastopol,Ca. I showed the spiral steel forging with a stainless steel bowl in it and I received a commission for three.I had built the jigs to reproduce the piece in both left and right spirals in case someone wanted mirror image sconces on both side of an entryway.Fortunately the client intends to spread the three pieces throughout his house so I could make them all spin in the same direction. It is a difficult forging in that the full dimensional 3'4"stock is tapered at both ends from the center.I started with 56" and stretched the material to 6'.To do three of these pieces it took me and my partner (running two trip hammers simultaneously) 6 hours overall. The center section of each had to be shaped by hand with the torch and rosebud because we couldn't fit it back into the forge once the circular spiral on the top was formed.

Woven Pillar Candelabra

First Commission from my one-man-show currently going on for the month of December at Risk Press Gallery in Sebastopol,Ca.
I made this today on my day off for a very nice young couple that commissioned me yesterday at the gallery.

Fountain Spouts

These five spouts were made from schedule 40 2.5"black pipe.I cut a transverse slice from the end of each tube using carborundum cut-off wheels then forged, then shaped with hammer work. Each spout required 4 heats. The size, weight, and bulk of the pipe required it to be handled by two of us,one holding the piece with tongs hot from the forge over the horn of the anvil, while the other did the hammering. It was rough work but we managed make all 5 in three hours.
