Welding DFW Dallas hackerspace The Dallas Personal Robotics Group, a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational group, has been around in the Dallas area since the 1980s doing interesting things including a lot of metal working. I've been a member since 1993. Recently, the group lost our long-time home, a warehouse in the Garland area, when our landlord retired and the building changed hands. The DPRG has also been trying to encourage wider participation in our projects by artists, DIY'ers, etc. So we've decided the best route to finding a new space for projects is to launch a full-blown hackerspace. Any metal working meetups or events in the Dallas, TX area?

I'm new to metal working and looking for others in the Dallas, TX area interested in the same thing. Are there any meetups, groups, workshops, or events that anybody knows of? Does this site have an event list or a calendar or anything like that? Is it possible to weld black cast iron to stainless steel?

Welding Is it possible to weld black cast iron to stainless steel plate using an arc welder? If so, what type of welding rod is recommended? This is not a structural weld that needs to support a large amount of weight or anything; just needs to hold the weight of the cast iron component itself, maybe a few pounds. Any advice? » read more | 14 comments |
