More News....

Today was my birthday...and although I'm getting older ...I'm getting better and definitely more focused and determined to get the work into high gear. After sending out 300 news letters ...I finally got a response from a gallery in Boston that liked my work...so we will take it from there and see where it goes. Had a dinner party last night for the people in my building and some new neighbors...and even though I did the cooking it turned into my party. Today I was rewarded...Walter found some interesting wood being thrown out and retrieved it and brought it home.
I built an amazing wall piece with one of the pieces incorporating my steel work....it's almost done. I'll get some photos soon. We have decided it was meant to be a gift....for the owner of the graphic design company doing my web site which is almost complete. But it's the start of a new series I will title "Out of the Woods". I'm really excited. Spent my whole birthday in my studio playing. (my commission is done except for painting/Walter's job, glass and installation)
I want to thank all my ArtMetal friends as I really feel we inspire each other and promote an energy which creates vitality and excitement...SteelyJan

I had no idea. I'm glad you had a party for your b'day, even if you had to do all the work… Having been the beneficiary of one of your dinners, I know for sure it was terrific. On the older vs. better ratio, your age is linear, but your "better" is logarithmic!

What kind of news letters did you send out? I agree, this site is such an inspiration. I'm so glad I found it. It makes being a self taught artist and metal worker not so hard.

So much it`s been said already. I`m glad things are coming out right for you. Similarly, I`m trying to contact a few galleries.Did you really send 300 letters? My God I`ve only sent 10 and I`m getting discouraged .Not a single answer yet, so I stopped sending, I`ve got to do something different, better, polishing up, I don`t know. Gee I feel so stupid, it`s obvious man, I`ve got to send at least 290 more, to have a chance for an answer, LOL. Maybe got to be outrageous, make wackier sculptures, this galleries world is more complicated than art itself. Cannot live without them, some say it`s f...ing hard living with them too. Well, everyone`s got to figure this one out himself. There`s a time, place and way ... I guess. May that trend continue for you, you deserve it ! Happy Birthday gal! nelson.
