Four months ago I moved from Germany to Altus, OK and feel as if this place is a Geological oddity.. at least two hours from EVERYWHERE! This led me to wonder if anyone here is located between Dallas and Oklahoma City? I've googled and googled and there aren't any workshops within 100 miles of this place... From where the wind goes sweeping through the plains... and boy does it ever! Scrapironmaiden ![]() Middle of nowhere?

If you want middle of nowhere then go to Midland-Odessa TX. PS-Don`t bother with Dallas-Ft Worth.Austin and San Antonio is where you want to go.Much nicer people than DFW or Oky City, especially for members of the DOD. In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. ![]() I once drove a car across

I once drove a car across the US through there. My most lasting memory of it was that I couldn't find a decent cup of coffee between Memphis, Tennessee, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Albuquerque made me think I had died and gone to Heaven. Richard ![]() Well you are reasonably

Well you are reasonably close to James Johnson's shop near Alvord Texas. He and his shop/showroom are well worth a visit! I spent a morning there when I drove down to pick up my Anyang power hammer and learned enough to make my trip worthwhile (I drove from Saint Louis). In Denton Texas, which seems quite close by, you have a very interesting antique district which I was unable to explore because when I was there they were closed. I did eat a wonderful dessert in a little shop called Sarah's right across from the courthouse... the humor AND the food are both first rate! A great and reasonably priced cafe is in Oklahoma city... not too much farther... Dinner at Cattleman's cafe is worth saving up for! Their specialty is steaks but they serve excellent breakfasts too. Don't eat there too often or you will become blimpy. James is a very nice young man and I am sure that he could tell you of other shops in the area... it would be well worthwhile to watch him work once in a while. He has quite a shop and knows a lot about working large stock. ![]() I checked out James

You're very welcome! If you happen to be eating at the Cattleman's at evening time check the back parking lot for a very nice gentleman with a horse drawn wagon... He's amazingly friendly and easy to talk with. He once ran a pretty big operation with forty to fifty horses and several drivers but now it is just he and his wife selling wagon rides. ![]() Altus
