More sidetracks, sort of

My weld tests.
Figured that I didn't want to waste *any* titanium.
Crudly bent rings, welded, then cold forged round.
If the weld holds, I'm on the right track.
Figured this out a few years ago. This batch of ten was to "warm up" for welding the trike.

Non-Metal Sidetrack

Fabrication

Already fired up the next sculpture . . . back to metal :-)

Titanium tricycle - have it all planned and have all the metal.

This is Eve. Needs a base and just a bit of tweaking. "Soaking" for now.

Burnout Kiln

Casting | |

These are of the burn out kiln.
My homemade ceramic shell process isn't up to speed yet. The first batches made weak shell.

Old mini fridge.

Portable foundry furnace

Casting | | |

Fully portable bronze furnace.
Smallest gas powered leaf blower I could find - plenty of air at idle.
Stainless cover with refractory slathered kaowool weighs less than 20 lbs.
harbor freight weed burners are way simpler than making your own.

Cold formed 7 guage Stainless

Whitesmithing |

Just learned a new word. "Whitesmithing" Guess this counts?

Olive and stainless

Fabrication | |

Base is cold formed 7 guage stainless (3/16").
the pipe is 1/8" wall.
lots of stainless rod reinforcing underneath.

I hand slabbed an olive tree trunk ages ago and finally used up the last slab.

Dressing a Nimba

Blacksmithing |

I just got a used Nimba Centurion.
Used but had never been dressed.
So I've;
removed the pitting and hand ground the face flat with lots of water and flat diamond stones,
got the horn back to symmetrical using a portable slack belt grinder and big diamond files,
