What book to buy?

I got the forge going last night for the first time. Since where I live we can only get cows and corn neither of which I wanted to stick into the forge I cobbled together a charcoal maker and used the byproduct. It got hot and didnt smoke, I can see it will take quite a bit (I think, nothing to compare it to). IT WORKED! Now I need to get a bit more serious about learning. I saw a lot of books on the "my favorite books" list. Does anyone recommend 1 or 2 for the absolute green beginner.
Thanks
Sawle

That Depends

That all depends where you want to go with metalworking. For beginning blacksmithing, I recommend "The New Edge Of The Anvil" by Jack Andrews. I think it explains how to go about learning blacksmithing as well as any, and lots better than most.
I'll let others recommend books for jewelry and other paths.
Of course, there is a books section right here on ArtMetal.
Just pull down the community menu and go to Favorite Books

"The Skills of the

"The Skills of the Blacksmith", by Mark Aspery is the best beginner's book I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Mark does a terrific job of explaining the "why" of every technique he presents, and his photos are clear and understandable. If you ever have the opportunity to watch Mark demo or teach, don't pass it up.
