Hi Folks! Back from Israel and recovering from 15 hours of sleep... Israel was great. I really have a first hand appreciation of the problems over there and have a much better appreciation as to why a solution to peace is so elusive. Also, I got some great pictures of metal work which I will post after the brain fog clears… Rich- As always, I benefit

Rob, Welcome back! Silicon
Rob,
Welcome back!
Silicon bronze is available from Atlas Metals in Denver, among others. That's who I use. Ask for Kaci if you call, she's very knowledgeable and helpful.
Silicon bronze forges very nicely, just don't get it too hot or it melts and don't work it too much cold or it cracks. It won't stain the wood and can be patinated to any color you desire, pretty much. If you're going to use fasteners, use silicon bronze fasteners to avoid corrosion issues.
I love working with silicon bronze. It TIG welds beautifully, leaving a joint with no color change at all - invisible, once dressed.
