Hi Rich!
I'm looking forward to seeing you next week in Ashokan. I assume you are still going to be demonstrating there? For those of you that are unaware of this event, our very own Rich Waugh (the same one we all know and love for his amazing artistry and indefatigable knowledge of everything metallic, bright and shiny) will be starring at the Atlantic Coast Blacksmith Conference in New York along with several other artists. Check this out at:

You flatter me, Rob. I'm
You flatter me, Rob. I'm just goinng to be doing one of the smaller mini-demos though, I'm not one of the main attractions. Peter Ross, Dave Norrie, and Mark Aspery will be the featured demonstrators and those guys are all really at the top of their respective games and you will be amazed at what they can do. This is going to be a really good conference, I'm sure.
As with other conferences I attend, this will be a chance to touch base with some old friends, make some new ones and learn a few new techniques, all while having fun and eating well. Hard to beat that, right? This is the first year that they;er doing this conference and I hope it all goes off perfectly so that we can do it again next year. It will be a real pleasure to get to meet you face to face after knowing you from ArtMetal.
Only a couple days left to get things together and then I fly out Monday. I'll be at Ashokan a day early and leave a daly late to help with set-up and tear-down for the event. It takes an incredible amount of work to put together an event like this and they can use all the help they can get, usually. I sent my demo materials up by mail last week so I don't have to hassle with taking them on the airplane - I sure hope I find them waiting forme at my buddy's shop when I get there, otherwise you'll see me demoing an air-chisel that pretty much resembles an air-guitar. (grin)
We're planning to hold some sessions in the evenings demonstrating some things you can do on a good utility air hammer, one of John Larson's "Iron Kiss" Hammers. I sent up a die or two so I can demo how to do a forged shutter dog of Caribbean design, if there is time enough. There's going to be a LOT going on!
See you there, I hope!
