Now, I was a different person, and afraid that if I tried to duplicate a previous piece, that I would fail miserably. That piece was about self discovery in a different time, now I was anxious to share my growth. My relatinship to and my perception of the salmon had also grown. The patron allowed me to run a with it (it is hard to know when to let me run wild or real me in).

I got rid of the bed rails and used a mild steel tubing and nails for the bones. I built up the tubing with a mig welder. This is copper overlay/inlayed into steel. The first piece was just hammered sheet. I started dressing the fins in mild steel with the mig, then, sanding. The plasma cut overlaid stainless steel of the last piece was replaced.

In my earlier post I talked about run away flux. This piece might just turn green and start growing. I wanted to represent that spawning salmon, that was eaten before it got to gnarly and rotten. I imagined it aging and changing on the wall.
