wine rack studyHere are some early examples of wine racks and leaves that I did. The leaf is a great exercise in hammering and folding copper. I was introduced to the medium of copper by Taylor Frazier Jr.(he gave me the braising rod secret) and saw a demonstration by Charles Lewton-Brain at an ABANA Conference in 1996 on fold forming. The leaf is cut out with a plasma cutter (learned from Butch (Taylor Frazier Jr.)Maple LeafZin Leaf from there I made a simple wine rack in copper from a steel recipe found in Ted Tucker's book "Practical Projects for the Blacksmith".Wine RackGrape Vine Study: Copper and sandstone exerciseI think that a grape arbor with copper and steel vines with copper leaves holding bottles and glasses would look great. I could even see blown glass grapes. There is a lot of great forged vine and steel leaf work out there, I would love to work with someone to add copper and glass to the composition. Or just see it done.
