Old Style Belt Buckle

OldStyleBuckle

OldStyleBuckle

This is the old style of belt buckle.  It leaves the end of the belt sticking out and in the way, sometimes.  (OK, it bugs me!)

RicksBuckleRicksBuckleThis is the buckle I made to combat the "flap thing".   I like the smell of the coal burning and this morning I got out into my shop and made this.

AttachedAttachedThis is how it is attached to the belt.  It leaves the end of the belt showing.

In UseIn Use

This is in use and shows how the end of the belt no longer sticks out, you just tuck it behind.  Now the changing belt size is no longer so obvious to all, as you can hide that flap behind the rest of the belt.

(Yes, that is my fat belly.)

HorseshoeHorseshoe

This is another one I made from a horse shoe.  (Actually a number 1 pony shoe from the local Farm and Fleet store.)

How many embellishments could we come up with for a RicksBuckle?  I can think of many right off the bat.  A figure eight or an S shape as my first one, could easily have other things shaped on the end of the rod.   If you like a prong hook in stead of this style that has a rod going thru the belt, many other things could go on the design of a buckle.

Hi Rick!
Cool designs on the belt buckle! I like your practical, problem solving ideas. Regarding your question about additional embellishments, I have seen buckles made from bar shoes (modified horseshoes) that are kind of cool.
