blacksmithing | demonstration Tomorrow I leave to go north and freeze my tropicalized tail off in Maryland at the Gichner Memorial Hammer-In, hosted by the folks at the Mid-Atlantic Smiths Association(MASA). I'll be demonstrating toolmaking and raising, along with a few other tidbits if time permits. I don't know if time constraints will allow me to get online or not while I'm away. Y'all play nice while I'm gone and keep the good work coming. I'll be back home on Tuesday. Looking forward to seeing some of you there. I see that Jim COtter is already signed up and I hope I get a chance to chat with him and pick his brain for a while during the event. Events like this are about my only face-to-face contact with other smiths, so I squeeze them for all they're worth when I get the opportunity. You've been forewarned, Jim. Bob, Thanks, I had a gerat time at the meet. It was really enjoyable to talk with you and Wendy, and I hope I answered your questions adequately. Hearing that you were motivated to get busy and make some stakes and try your hand at the raising is very gratifying to me - that is what I try to inspire when I demonstrate. I'll be anticipating some pictues of what you come up with, so get busy! (grin) If Wendy has any problems getting hooked up with the guy in your area to do the knife, let me know and I can do it for her. I think she'd get a lot of enjoyment, (to say nothing of reassurance), watching it made, though. Thanks again for the compliments, Rich ![]() Never made it to the
