Posting pictures

I noticed recently a few posts where the image that was supposed to be there was missing. I've had this happen myself, and discovered that my problem lay in trying to upload an image that was too large. My laptop, which is what I primarily use, doesn't have Photoshop loaded, so I was stumped at first. Then I remembered a simple little application available for Win XP, called "Image Resizer."

I downloaded the app here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

You have to scroll down the page to find it on the right hand side near the bottom. It is an almost instant download since it's so small. Handy little devil, too.

Image Resizer just sits there hidden until you need it. Right click on an image file and you'll se an option that says "Resize Images." Click on that, and it opens a dialogue box offering you a choice of sizes for the resized image, from small to large. Small or medium is okay for a quick email, as it gets a 7mp image down to about 25-50k bytes form speedy mailing. Large works well for posting on ArtMetal and yields an image around 100-200K bytes from the same 7mp picture. The application does NOT alter the original, but rather makes a copy of it that is smaller. The copy is stored in the same location as the original, with the same name followed by "(large)" or whatever size you selected.

For those of you who, like me, use Win XP, you might find this a quick and easy way to resize images for posting or emailing. Hope this helps.

Tutorial

Richard,
I'm blessed or cursed with an over active left brain..The problem is that "how to post pictures" is a right brain function..No problem usually...Left brain found the tutorial.. Now I can't get the tutorial to play. I did find the resize picture function and it's great worked for me. I did find the not blue triangle. I've played it in the past..I'm stuck. Lb lost the notes on the tutorial, rb has no idea where lb puts anything. Brad

So which is left and which

So which is left and which is right.
North and south seemed to work better till I turned around.

Hi Rich....from Janet R.

I'm glad you posted this info as I haven't been able to post a picture for awhile????? I never had a problem before. Did the Webminster change the format???? When I have alittle patience I sit down and figure out your method. I'm soon to purchase a Mac Book and that should solve all my problems....Janet R.
