I want to make the lock part of the box. Not a padlock. I hope to make them look old timey. Thanks. Ray Thanks Rich. That is just

There's another book, Medieval Furniture: Plans and Instructions for Historical Reproductions by Daniel Diehl and Mark Donnelly, which has a chapter on a chest lock with good drawings and instructions. That chapter is currently viewable at Google books. Search for the title at http://books.google.com/. » reply ![]() locks

Some of the most beautiful locks in the world are at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. They are examples done by locksmiths for their Master designation. I also found a small book on Amazon about Iranian locks. There are a couple of diagrams in the book. I'll look up the title if you're interested. Claudia » reply |

Ray, See if you can locate
Ray,
See if you can locate a copy of "The Spruce Forge Manual of Locksmithing". It is a small paperback book on forging locks. It's not a great book, but it shows you what you need to know about making a basic tumbler and so on. Last time I looked, it was back in print, so maybe Judy Berger carries it. Her business is called Blue Moon Press, but the only website I could find was unfinished and half hijacked, it appeared. Judy shows up at all the bigt blacksmiths meets, or you can call her at (866) 627-6922.
Good luck with it!
