gate Ok. Another place to come to when I need a break from the physical work. And see that there are other people doing work akin to what I do. Working solo is great except when I need feedback on what I'm doing. I'm happy to be here and hope that I can contribute to the community here. this is a gate and fence project that I'm just about ready to paint and install...if it ever stops snowing here. Ray, Welcome to ArtMetal! I'm really pleased to see you showing up here and posting some of your outstanding work. I understand completely about the vacuum of working solo all the time. I don't even have any other smiths in the area - I'm the only working smith in the Virgin Islands, as far as I know, so I have to use the 'net and regional meets to get input from others. Not easy to get to the meets from here, either, so I usually only make QuadStates and Gichner's, though I did sneak in the trip to Ashokan in September. Post more pictures of your work, Ray. Lovely work Ray, nice website too, it shows it off well. How do you mount your handrails? Do you lead them in or concrete? It lets them stay uncluttered with unsightly brackets and such. I like it. » reply handrail anchoring

Thanks David. I use Quickrete anchoring cement. It is somewhat nerve wracking having one shot at having it set-up solidly. On tricky installs I'll weld plates to the bottom of the posts and use drop-in anchors and fasteners Ray. » reply  Beautiful work Ray Matt
