The Clock is Tickin'

OT: Sandbox YAK | Artist Inspiration

As some of you know, I recently returned from Peru where I gave a series of workshops/seminars to metalworkers in Lima. I had a great opportunity to take some personal time after the workshops to visit the sacred site of Machu Pichu - an Inca ruin. I've always had a great desire to learn more about ancient civilizations, especially Mesoamerican civilizations. Somehow, I've always thought that they had knowledge of this reality which we, in our egocentric material world, do not realize we have.

So when I went to Machu Picchu and was able to experience just a glimpse of what is possible to experience in this reality, I became immersed in finding out more about what I can do to get closer to what reality can be.

So in my ramblings around the net I end up running into an interview with John Major Jenkins author of several books on the Mayan civilization and the Mayan calendar and the meanings behind the Mayan end date of December 21, 2012. I was totally amazed at what I was hearing! Curiosity about things like "precession of the equinoxes", 27,000 year cycles, etc. has led me to realize that there could very well be other influences on our planet which affect us as individuals and as a collective.

What's interesting in all of this is that my ramblings around the net turned me on to a fabulous web site entitled "Conscious Media Network." The interviews done by Regina Meredith are fabulous! Regina reports on things that are not reported on the traditional media of television, radio, or newspapers. Her interviews are with noted authors, scholars, and academia. I'm just blown away with the information being presented and have a need to share this web site with you. This is the main reason for posting this blog.

If you do find this web site interesting and want to get a better idea what the actual interviews are about, consider using iTunes to subscribe to the podcast. That way, you will get a description of what the content is of the folks she is interviewing. The way her web site is set up, you have to know who the person is she is interviewing and know what their knowledge is before you actually see the interview. That's not very intuitive. But if you use iTunes to subscribe, then you can get a better idea of the content of the interview.

I hope you will check out the site and if you find something appealing, please come back and let us know what you've learned. Note that the content here is not specific to metalworking. But opening up your consciousness will open your creativity, and that should help all of us create our realities and our art.

Enjoy!

Mayan end date of December

Mayan end date of December 21st, 2112? Damn! I'm gonna miss that one, even if I quit smoking, I'm afraid.

Fascinating information, QuiQue. Thanks for passing on the links; they're going to occupy too much of my time, I can see already. A LOT of good inspiration there, for sure.

Rich

Thank You Webminster!

I will check out the info you provided. I have traveled throughout Mexico , years ago thank God!.Cancun hadn't invaded the lower regions at that time. Also Palenque and the Chiapas. Love the Central American History and culture. So thank you for any interesting info . You are absolutely right how much it inspires your work. I haven't been to Peru yet! I will be going to Croatia this summer and the last time I was there ( two years ago) the art scene was new and exploding. I would love to spend some time working there. I will get some information for everyone.

Made a mistake on the date.

Made a mistake on the date. It's actually 2012 and not 2112. So the Mayan calendar end date is only 5 years away.

heading towards the golden age...

Great! Now you tell me.

Great! Now you tell me. That changes everything. No more ten-year plan, no more looking at long-term investments, no more Book of the Month Club memberships (cuz those things never expire), and I guess I might as well plan on taking my Social Security at 62 (that'll be in 2010) instead of 65, which will be after the end date. My whole life has gone topsy-turvy. Oy vay! Or, ai chihuahua, if you prefer. :-)

Well Rich, if you listen to

Well Rich, if you listen to many of the interviews on Conscious Media Network, you may find a desire to do the things you are saying. Heck, with the political tensions, environmental commotions, and new technologies like HARP, we may all want to reconsider our priorities. I know my eyes have been opened and I'm in the process of determining my future path.

Don't get me wrong. There are some very positive things going on, and the Mayan end date is simply a point of reversal from where we have been. I want to think that if we don't blow ourselves up, and Big Brother (banking system) doesn't totally take over, then we will be heading towards the Golden Age of Enlightenment.

The thing we all need to do is to stop walking asleep...

At any given moment.

At any given moment anyone on this great cosmic journey could have said,"We are living in a time of change!" And they would have made a correct statement or tomorrow they will make the same true statement. According to the Mayans this is a cycle, If I understand this correctly, if this is a cycle it's happened before and will happen again. The anology used was that of breathing, there is a point at which we stop inhaleing and have not yet exhaled. Have we stopped breathing? It's a transition. not an end. I'm reading you but I have to say that I'm interested. I'm fasinated by folding up a bandsaw blade into three smaller circles. Totally amazes me. First of all because I can do it and secondly because I have to wonder about the kind of mind that comes up with stuff like that. It's amazing to me that my hope has nothing to do with the position of any planets or for that matter the center of this galaxy. Not my source of power any more than the bandsaw blades. Brad

Cycles do not duplicate

Brad, you have some good points. However, the concept of cycles being exactly the same ie; "happen again", is not necessarily correct. For instance, a bandsaw blade goes through a cycle from the start of the band to the end and then restarts again. As you and I both know, after using the bandsaw blade for some time, it stops cutting as well and we eventually replace it with a new blade. Another example is the cycles of the week. We have seven days before the cycle starts again. Yet each week is uniquely different even though when Friday afternoon comes we know we will have two days of rest before we go back to work on Monday. Weeks go by and our environment changes, our bodies change, everything around us changes. So to think that the Mayan precession cycle will repeat and happen again exactly as before, doesn't make much sense.

What has opened my mind about the concept of change and precession is that we are in a time period where many things are coming together. I'm talking mostly about where science and mathematics are proving religious concepts which have been, for the most part "belief" based concepts. For instance, the idea that our bodies are made of physical non-moving matter is now known to be false. Seems that when you break down the cells to their smallest parts, that pure energy or light is what makes up the cells. So the idea that everything is made up of light which oscillates or vibrates slower or faster depending of the purpose, opens up a whole new way to see our reality. I am looking forward to the day in which I am able to see the light oscillation coming off of material objects. I believe I can experience this and my hope is that, as I clarify my own physical and spiritual self, and as the planet gets closer to alignment with the center of the Milky Way, that these experiences which have been here all along, will be easier to experience and therefore bring me closer to truly experience this reality.

I could expand on this but that is not the purpose of this post. What I wanted to do was to expose those who are reading this to open their minds to the possibility that we may in fact be heading into a change of energy which may enhance our ability to see and experience life in a way that we haven't been able to in the past. It's kind of like clearing the brushes and trees so we can get a better view of the mountain top. Or moving the debris between a magnet and a piece of steel so the magnets energy will pull itself to the steel.

Aw heck Brad, this stuff can be all mumbo jumbo, and much of it has to do with your belief system. I noticed you used the word "hope" and "power" in defining your source. Both words are very powerful. Glad to hear you've found your source!

please continue

QuiQue
Please continue to bring us opportunities to expand our awareness. I do enjoy the sight you gave us and plan on viewing more of the interviews. I found several of the other interviews very interesting. Thank you. Brad
